Farmers of Conciousness

My friend Mpatheleni, told me that in Venda culture, the Baboons are the farmers of the forest, and the farmers of the consciousness. As part of a bigger research project into human and wildlife conflict, I am researching the history of the Baboon and it's relationship to people and the ecosystem, and how current conflict transformation work between baboons and people in Cape Town, might lead us to deeper healing around environmental justice struggles, land struggles and shifting consciousness about our relation to each other.
